Irrigation
Irrigation is the artificial application of water on land or soil.
Irrigation Systems
Irrigation systems are usually separated into zones because there is insufficient pressure to operate sprinklers for a complete yard or sports field at once. Irrigation controllers are commonly used to set start times, frequency and duration.
Drip Irrigation Systems
Drip irrigation systems can be operated manually or with an automatic timer and can also send fertilizer directly to the roots of plants. The irrigation controller has either a mechanical or electrical system that signals a zone to turn on at a particular time and keeps it on for the given period of time.
Drip irrigation is often the best option for watering trees, shrub beds and groundcovers. Our staff designs irrigation systems with wise water usage in mind. We utilize drought tolerant landscape design and have years of experience working with property owners and managers. We use only the best quality products to ensure long-lasting dependability and trouble-free irrigation.
Irrigation System Design
Our landscape experts will run through your irrigation system, review your landscape and conservation goals, make recommendations specific to your home and leave you with written recommendations for sprinkler system installation you can use when hiring an irrigator.
With the wrong person in charge of your irrigation timers irreversible damage can occur. Too much time on the station could result in stunted and disease prone plant material. Too little time and the same thing can happen. The wrong start times can cause ice conditions during winter and heavy water spotting during the growing season. Our Irrigation Technicians are hand picked by ownership and trained for a minimum of 3 weeks with another qualified technician before having to pass a written and practical examination. I wouldn’t want to be paying for training on the job if a T and M contract is in progress, so I will not bill the client for the inefficiency.
Netafim and Laser Tubing
Whether commercial or residential, when a landscape is installed the contractor/designer will provide 1 drip emitter right over the new plant root ball. This is sufficient if that plants root system were to stay contained to the original plants root ball. However, as we all know, roots spread out in an effort to support the growing “head” or “canopy” of the plant/tree. If contractors/designers would provide 1 emitter for the root ball and others where the designer “wants” the roots to eventually grow, we would not see the annual growth and decline of plants and trees every year. Once a landscape reaches 2-3 years old a modification or expansion of the drip system needs to be implemented. With the years of experience we have attained we can help you with these modifications so your landscape will “Evolve” instead of “Devolve,” stunt and die.
Netafim and Laser Tubing has been in our industry for over 20 years. With the right application your property will target the water to where the plant needs it most, while allowing for root expansion which results in a healthier, more pest free and flowering plant. Shallow watering as is typical with overhead spray systems promotes surface rooting and this leads to concrete cracking, trip/fall liabilities, equipment damage during maintenance procedures, reduction in area to replant.
Mulching is almost as important as watering correctly in the rootzone. Mulch helps prevent weed growth, nutrient and water competition, high soil temperatures causing more water use, decomposition of wood products that promote living organisms beneficial to plant roots and nutrient release through the decomp process.
